You came home today, a beautiful day in every way. Your dog, Ellie, got her first sniff of you and seemed pleased. You are so tiny, and yet perfect in every detail. This is a good day.

I admit to bias, but you're a remarkable newborn! Your composure while being introduced to this thing we call life is striking.

Your dad just now called to announce the arrival of the miracle that is you. Now begins the journey of life, and you can thank God that yours will be along the path of family love. Congratulations!

Greetings from Grandpa

You are only days away from joining us humans, and when you arrive I shall be a grandfather for the first time. Your mother is your grandmother's and my first child, and your father is the wonderful man she married. Just as I had to learn how to be a father to your mom, I will need to learn from you how to be the best grandpa I can be. I can take little to no credit for what a magnificent human being your mother is, but your life will be blessed by the fact that she is. You are so fortunate to be surrounded by the peace and love of all who are eagerly awaiting your arrival, me certainly not being the least of them. Your grandmother and I gave great thought to the proposition of bringing children into the world that we found ourselves in, and in many respects the world you are coming into is even more challenging. I thank God that I am going to be able to get acquainted with you right from the beginning, and that together we will discover what grandfathers and grandsons are all about.
